BB-24CL Turtle is a redeco of the BB-24 Jetsam mold, featuring an exclusive color scheme to commemorate the collaboration with Chimelong Ocean Kingdom park in China. The 'CL' in the product code denotes this collaboration. No other factory variants are known to exist for this specific release. The original BB-24 Jetsam features a blue and grey color scheme based on a leatherback sea turtle, while BB-24CL uses a more stylized green sea turtle palette inspired by Chimelong's branding and marine exhibits, with an opaque finish compared to the partially translucent shell of some other versions of the mold. The engineering, transformation, and accessories are identical between them. Another version of the mold, BB-24D Delta, features a brown and tan color scheme with a different head sculpt, evoking a tortoise rather than a sea turtle. BB-24CL Turtle specifically refers to the Chimelong version. Each release in the BB-24 series (Jetsam, Turtle, Delta) is considered a distinct character within the BeastBox line, despite sharing the same core engineering. Later, a 'Firmhand' version was released in white and red. The Turtle is often seen as part of the 'Chimelong sub-series' by collectors, alongside other collaborative figures like BB-10CL Chimelong Beluga and BB-27CF Chimelong Fennec Fox, making it a key piece for those focused on completing that specific set. Its unique, bright colors make it stand out from the more muted or metallic tones of many other BeastBox releases, appealing to collectors who favor more whimsical or stylized designs. While the original Jetsam mold is more common, the Chimelong Turtle is a bit more specialized due to its co-branding, but is not considered exceptionally rare. It's primarily sought after by BeastBox completionists or fans of the theme park collaboration. Secondary market value is generally stable and comparable to other general release BeastBox figures. It's a fun and unique piece, but not a high-demand item that commands a significant premium over its original retail price. Its collectibility is therefore moderate, appealing to a specific niche within the broader BeastBox fandom. It is not known to have been reissued, so existing stock is all that is available. The vibrant color scheme makes it a visually striking addition to a collection. The Chimelong series was primarily targeted at the Asian market, so it may be slightly harder to find in Western markets compared to standard global releases. This limited international distribution adds a minor layer of scarcity for collectors outside of Asia. For a new collector, it's an accessible and interesting example of a BeastBox collaboration. For long-time fans, it's a necessary purchase to complete the BB-24 mold family or the Chimelong set. The figure's design, by Metal Command, is well-regarded for its clever and intuitive transformation sequence, a hallmark of the BeastBox line. The clear box charger included with the figure is the standard V1 type, common to many releases from this period. The character card features unique artwork of the Turtle character in its Chimelong colors. The packaging also features the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom logo, distinguishing it from other BB-24 releases on the shelf. The collaboration with a major theme park makes it a unique crossover item, adding to its appeal for some collectors. There was no pre-order bonus offered for this release. Its status as a repaint rather than a new mold means it's not as essential as a cornerstone piece like the original Dio or Moma figures, but it remains a popular and well-executed variant. Overall, it's a solid, fun figure with a specific appeal that makes it a worthwhile, if not essential, part of a comprehensive BeastBox collection. The bright colors can be a pro or a con depending on a collector's aesthetic preferences. Some prefer the more realistic color scheme of Jetsam, while others are drawn to the playful look of the Turtle. Its value is more in its unique appearance and crossover status than in any inherent rarity or market demand. It represents an interesting chapter in 52Toys' history of collaborations with other brands and attractions. The Waverox faction, to which it belongs, is one of the more diverse factions in the BeastBox lore, featuring a wide range of aquatic and amphibious creatures. The Turtle fits in well with other Waverox members like Leviathan and Jawbreaker. The figure's play value is high, with a satisfying transformation and durable construction typical of 52Toys products. It's a great desk toy as well as a collectible. The small size makes it easy to display a large collection in a small space. The cube mode is a signature feature of the entire BeastBox line and is executed perfectly in this figure. The plastic quality is excellent, with a mix of ABS and PVC for durability and detail. The paint applications are generally clean and crisp, bringing out the details of the sculpt. The figure has a good amount of articulation in turtle mode, allowing for a surprising range of poses for a transforming toy of this size. The head can look up, down, and side to side, and the flippers have multiple points of articulation. This makes it more than just a static display piece. The 'Built-in Weapons' gimmick, with the pop-out cannons, is a fun and well-integrated feature that adds to its 'BeastBox' identity as a mechanical creature. This figure is a good representation of the line's core concepts: creative design, clever engineering, and a fun, collectible format. In summary, its collectibility is driven by its unique color scheme, its status as a theme park collaboration, and its place within the BB-24 mold family and the Waverox faction. It's a must-have for completionists and an attractive option for casual fans looking for a colorful and interesting addition to their collection. There have been no reports of significant quality control issues, making it a safe purchase on the secondary market. The lack of electronics or complex gimmicks means there's little that can go wrong with the figure over time. It's a solid, reliable, and visually appealing toy. The price has remained relatively stable since its release, indicating steady but not overwhelming demand. It is not considered an 'investment' piece but rather a fun collectible for enthusiasts of the line. The designer, Metal Command, is a well-known name in the transforming toy community, and their work on the BeastBox line is highly respected, adding a layer of credibility and appeal to the figure. The 17-step transformation is complex enough to be engaging but not so difficult as to be frustrating, hitting a sweet spot for many collectors. This balance of complexity and fun is a key reason for the BeastBox line's success. The Turtle's bright coloration also makes it photograph well, which is a bonus for collectors who enjoy toy photography. Its cheerful appearance can provide a nice contrast to the more aggressive or militaristic designs of some other BeastBox figures. The Chimelong collaboration represents a successful partnership for 52Toys, and the Turtle figure is a great example of the creative potential of such crossovers. The fact that it is based on a real-world location (the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom) gives it a unique connection to reality that most other BeastBox figures lack. This can make it particularly appealing to collectors who have visited the park or have an interest in marine life and conservation. The character card provides a small amount of lore and stats for the Turtle, adding to the world-building of the BeastBox universe. Collecting the character cards is a secondary hobby for many BeastBox fans. In conclusion, the BB-24CL Turtle is a well-made, cleverly designed, and visually striking figure that holds a special place in the BeastBox line due to its unique color scheme and collaborative origins. While not the rarest or most sought-after figure, it has a dedicated following and is a worthy addition to any collection. Its appeal lies in its charm, its fun transformation, and its connection to the Chimelong brand. It's a great example of how a simple repaint can create a whole new character and a desirable collectible in its own right. The fact that it has not been re-released means that its availability will only decrease over time, which could potentially increase its value in the long term, although a significant spike is unlikely given its status as a general release. For anyone looking to get into the BeastBox line, the Turtle is a great starting point, as it perfectly encapsulates the brand's appeal. It's a toy that's meant to be played with and enjoyed, not just kept in a box. The tactile experience of transforming it from a cube to a turtle and back again is a huge part of its charm. The satisfying clicks and snaps of the parts moving into place are a testament to the quality of its design and manufacturing. The transparent box charger can also be used as a display stand or linked with other chargers to create a larger display diorama, adding to the play and display options. The BB-24 mold is considered one of the stronger designs in the 5cm cube series, and the Turtle is a fine representation of that mold. It's a testament to the creativity of 52Toys that they can create such a diverse range of characters and designs within the constraints of the 5cm cube format. The Turtle is a shining example of this creativity and innovation. Its bright, friendly appearance makes it one of the more approachable figures in the line, which can be appealing to a wider audience beyond hardcore fans of mecha and transforming robots. It's a toy that can be enjoyed by collectors of all ages. The collaboration also helps to introduce the BeastBox line to a new audience of theme park visitors and fans of marine life, expanding the brand's reach. This cross-promotional aspect is a smart business move by 52Toys and adds another layer of interest to the figure for collectors who are interested in the business side of the toy industry. Overall, the BB-24CL Turtle is a resounding success on all fronts: as a toy, as a collectible, and as a collaborative product. It's a figure that brings a smile to your face and is a joy to handle. It's a perfect example of why the BeastBox line has become so popular around the world. It’s a small package that packs a lot of fun and personality. A gem in the vast ocean of collectibles. Highly recommended for any fan of transforming toys. A must-buy for BeastBox enthusiasts. A unique piece that tells a story. The Chimelong connection makes it a great souvenir for visitors to the park. The quality of the plastic and the tightness of the joints are excellent, ensuring that the figure will hold up to repeated transformations. The design is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The cube mode is very compact and solid, with no loose parts. In turtle mode, the figure is surprisingly expressive and poseable. The pop-out cannons are a fun action feature that adds to the play value. The colors are vibrant and eye-catching. The character card is a nice bonus that adds to the collectibility. The packaging is attractive and collector-friendly. In short, there's very little to criticize about this figure. It delivers on all its promises and is a great value for the price. It's a figure that will continue to be appreciated by collectors for years to come. The legacy of the Chimelong collaboration will ensure that this figure remains a unique and sought-after piece in the history of the BeastBox line.
