Collaborations - Transformers x Back to the Future: Gigawatt
Background, key features and collector notes for this figure
Great Scott! Worlds collide in this 'Transformers' x 'Back to the Future' crossover. Gigawatt is an Autobot from Cybertron who, after arriving on Earth, scans the iconic DeLorean time machine as his alternate mode. He is a time-traveling warrior featuring details inspired by the films, including Doc Brown-style goggles, a flux capacitor chest piece, and time circuit details.
Gigawatt was first released in June 2020 as a limited edition Walmart exclusive, with only 1,985 units produced in unique packaging. A second, mass-retail version with standard packaging became widely available later the same year, making the figure accessible to more collectors.

Ratings and thoughts from collectors who own Gigawatt
Collectibility is heavily dependent on the version. The initial Walmart-exclusive release, limited to 1,985 numbered units in special packaging, is highly sought after and commands a significant premium on the secondary market. The subsequent mass-retail release is very common and affordable, appealing to more casual fans. The figure was popular as a novel crossover, but only the limited first edition is considered a high-value collectible.
The extensive silver paint is prone to scratching if not handled carefully. Some copies have been reported to have loose ankle or hip joints, which can affect posing. The clear plastic of the windshield and doors can be brittle and should be handled with care during transformation.
The primary variant is the packaging. The initial limited-edition release came in a numbered box designed to look like a plutonium case. The later mass-market release came in a standard 'Transformers Collaborative' window box without numbering or the special design elements. The figure itself is identical between releases.
