Collaborations - Transformers x Ghostbusters: Ectotron
Background, key features and collector notes for this figure
Ectotron is a Cybertronian scientist and paranormal investigator. As a dedicated Autobot, he scans the iconic Cadillac Ecto-1 upon arriving on Earth to aid the Ghostbusters in their mission. He combines advanced Cybertronian technology with ghost-busting gear, making him the perfect mechanical ally for any spectral encounter.
Released in June 2019, Ectotron launched the highly successful Transformers Collaborative line, which pairs the brand with other iconic pop culture properties. The initial release was a GameStop exclusive in the United States and was also available via Hasbro Pulse, notable for its G1-inspired packaging that paid homage to the original 1980s toy line.

Ratings and thoughts from collectors who own Ectotron
As the inaugural figure in a very popular crossover line, the original Ectotron is a highly sought-after collectible. The 2019 release with its premium G1-style box is considered the definitive version and commands higher prices on the secondary market than its later reissue. Its unique concept and successful execution make it a key piece for both Transformers and Ghostbusters fans.
The clear plastic used for the forearms and elbows is known to be somewhat brittle and can be susceptible to stress marks or cracking if not handled with care during transformation. Some copies may also exhibit moderately loose hip or ankle joints.
A major variant was released in 2021 to tie into the film Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This version features a heavy 'weathered' or 'rusty' paint deco, came in updated, non-G1 packaging, and swapped the Slimer accessory for one of the 'Muncher' ghosts from the new movie.
