Released in 2004 as part of the Transformers: Energon "Combat Class" (equivalent to Deluxe Class), Sharkticon is a Decepticon sea-and-air warrior. While the name references the generic guards from the 1986 film, this specific figure is a unique character whose design serves as a visual homage to the Decepticon flagship, the Nemesis.
Key Features:
Collectors value this figure for its unique "shark-ship" aesthetic and its departure from the "Powerlinx" combination gimmick that restricted the articulation of many other Energon figures. While the mold is praised for its sleek look and poseability, collectors should be wary of the two long, translucent missiles which are easily lost, and the "Hyper-power" flip-out panels which can become loose or floppy with heavy use. The mold remains popular enough that it was later repurposed for the Transformers: Cybertron line as Sky Shadow and as a BotCon 2010 exclusive.
