Character Background

Offshoot is an Autobot Omnicon released in 2004 as part of the "Powerlinx Battles" wave of the Transformers: Energon toy line. He is a redeco of the previously released Signal Flare, replacing the original tan and orange colors with a white, blue, and orange "arctic" or "emergency" color scheme.

• Energon Star: Includes a translucent red Energon Star that can be attached to the figure's shoulder or other Energon-compatible ports.
• Energon Weaponry: Features a rotating radar dish that transforms into a large, translucent red "Energon cutter" blade.
• Weapon Mode: The figure is engineered to transform into a dedicated weapon station/handheld cannon that can be used by larger Energon-class figures.

• Mobile Artillery Vehicle: Based on a fictional Cybertronian tracked vehicle. It features a futuristic tank-like chassis with a prominent, rotating radar dish mounted on the rear, intended for reconnaissance and long-range energy fire.

Offshoot is valued by collectors for his excellent articulation and the versatility of his "weapon mode," which enhances the playability of larger figures in the Energon line. While he is a redeco of Signal Flare, many fans prefer his crisp white and blue deco over the original's desert-themed colors. Collectors should be wary of missing the translucent Energon Star or the Energon blade, as these small parts are frequently lost in loose secondary-market listings.
