Character Background

Skyblast is a member of the Omnicons, a faction of Autobots introduced in the Transformers: Energon series who are responsible for mining and refining raw Energon. This figure was released in late 2003 as part of the first wave of the "Energon Class" (equivalent to the Basic or Scout size class).

Key Features:

• Energon Weapons: Includes a multi-part set of translucent red plastic weapons that can combine into a long spear or split into a handheld blade and a claw-shield.
• Energon Star: Comes with a removable translucent red "Energon Star" that can be pegged into the Spark Crystal on the figure's shoulder.
• Universal Ports: Features 5mm ports and pegs, allowing the Energon weapons to be used by larger figures in the Energon toy line.

Skyblast is highly regarded by collectors as one of the strongest "Basic Class" molds from the Unicron Trilogy era due to its clean transformation and excellent weapon gimmick. While the figure is generally affordable and easy to find, collectors should be wary of "yellowing" on the white plastic parts and ensure the small, easily lost Energon Star accessory is included. The mold's popularity is reflected in its history, as it was frequently repainted for other lines, including the 2007 Transformers movie toy line and various BotCon exclusives.
