G1 - Action Masters: Action Master Devastator - Scorpulator
Background, key features and collector notes for this figure
Scorpulator is the transforming partner of the Decepticon Action Master, Devastator. In a departure from the core Transformers concept, Action Masters were highly articulated figures that could not transform on their own. Instead, they were paired with smaller companions like Scorpulator, who could convert into weapons, preserving the line's 'More Than Meets The Eye' gimmick in a new way.
Released in 1990, Scorpulator was an accessory packaged with the larger, non-transforming Action Master Devastator figure. This set was part of the later waves of the Generation 1 toyline and was a mainstream retail release in the USA.

Ratings and thoughts from collectors who own Devastator's Scorpulator
As part of the divisive Action Masters sub-line, this set appeals primarily to Generation 1 completionists. The non-transforming nature of the main Devastator figure is a turn-off for many, but the unique concept has a dedicated niche following. Scorpulator is very small and frequently lost, making a complete, unbroken sample significantly harder to find and adding to the set's value for dedicated collectors.
The small joints and thin appendages on Scorpulator are fragile due to age and can be prone to stress marks or breakage. The swirly gold plastic, while not universally reported to suffer from Gold Plastic Syndrome, should be handled with care.
