About This Figure

Background

Inferno emerged as part of the second wave of G1 Autobot Cars in 1985, expanding the roster beyond the original 1984 releases. This figure represented Hasbro's commitment to diversifying the Autobot lineup with emergency and rescue vehicles, positioning Inferno as the team's dedicated fire and rescue specialist. The character quickly became a fan favorite through his appearances in the original animated series, where his brave and sometimes reckless personality shone through.

Transformation

Inferno transforms from robot mode into a detailed fire truck complete with an extending ladder assembly. The transformation process is relatively straightforward but satisfying, with the vehicle's cab forming the robot's torso and the ladder truck bed becoming backpack-mounted equipment. The figure maintains good proportions in both modes, with the fire truck mode featuring realistic emergency vehicle detailing and the robot mode displaying classic G1 articulation standards.

Gimmicks

No special gimmicks or features are documented for this figure beyond the standard transformation mechanism and extending ladder that functions in vehicle mode.

Collector Appeal

Inferno's appeal lies in his status as one of the more recognizable second-year Autobots and his unique emergency vehicle alt-mode that stands out among the sports cars dominating the early G1 lineup. The figure's red and white color scheme is vibrant and eye-catching, while his animated series prominence gives him strong nostalgic value for collectors. Mint condition examples with intact ladder assemblies and crisp Autobot insignias command premium prices, especially when accompanied by original accessories and packaging.
