I wanted to make a thread for the many musical and other references in Beastbox figures, since 52Toys famously has a ton of them in the names and sometimes other aspects of Beastbox figures. I definitely don't know all of them and would love to learn about ones I don't know. I'll start with BB-01 through -10:

  • BB-01 Dio: by inference from other figure names, this is pretty clearly referencing one of the best-ever metal singers, the late Ronnie James Dio
  • BB-02 Ghost Dog: no idea for sure, but there's a pretty great crime movie by this name starring Forest Whitaker as a modern hitman trying to live by the code of bushido
  • BB-02HD Helldiver: a twist on Dio's hit "Holy Diver", since Helldiver is positioned as a villainous rival to Dio.
  • BB-03 Jojo: nothing I can confidently say, but I do connect it in my mind to Powerpuff Girls villain Mojo Jojo
  • BB-03IK Jostark: colors designed to resemble the Iron Man armor as worn by Tony Stark
  • BB-03MK Monkey King: Sun Wukong, the monkey king, from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West
  • BB-07PK Painkiller: a stretch, but there's a band by this name featuring John Zorn on saxophone, Bill Laswell on bass guitar, and Mick Harris on drums
  • BB-08 Iceqube: American rapper and actor Ice Cube?
  • BB-09US Ultra Shield: US as in USA, with the red, white, and blue color scheme
  • BB-09VT Vertigo: another stretch, but Vertigo is the name of a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, who also directed The Birds
  • BB-10SA Space Anthem: features a "BBSA" logo that greatly resembles the famous NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) wordmark and logo.

Anything obvious that I'm missing?
